POETRY

installation

In Azerbaijan, elderly women often make paper containers from the pages of books they consider outdated, using them to sell sunflower seeds and other small snacks. The artwork Poetry addresses this practice, reflecting on the value of every written work and the fate of books deemed obsolete.

Exhibited in Made in Azerbaijan, as part of ARTIM LAB, YARAT Contemporary Art Space, Baku, Azerbaijan, 2017.

FITNA

sgraffito technique

Inspired by Fitna, a female figure from Nizami Ganjavi’s Khamsa, the work explores the power of women through the concept of monumentality. It reinterprets monumentality not merely as physical scale, but as a symbol of inner strength, resilience and the ability to challenge established perceptions of power. The work reflects on the presence and significance of female power within cultural narratives.

Exhibited in Monumental, as part of ARTIM LAB, YARAT Contemporary Art Space, Baku, Azerbaijan, 2017.
